Movie Quote by Teri Garr in Tootsie

Picture Of Teri Garr

My favorite movie quote was made by Teri Garr in the movie Tootsie.

It was during the scene where she comes to Dustin Hoffman's apartment and figures out that he is "seeing" someone else. He feels really bad about misleading her and is trying to say he is sorry. At this point, she looks at him and retorts: "I just have to feel this way until I don't feel this way anymore!"

I really related to this because there have been many times in my life when I felt really bad about one thing or another and there really was nothing that anybody could say or do to make me feel better no matter how much they cared about me or wanted to help me. Sometimes, you just have to feel bad until you don’t feel bad anymore.

I have learned also that many times it is better to feel the bad instead of trying to prevent it by taking pills or drinking or trying to pretend you don't care.

I think that it is often times healthier just to let the bad feelings come. You will live through it and be a better person for it. This is how this quote has affected me throughout my life.

my favorite quote, too!

This is also my favorite movie quote. I just referenced it the other day when saying goodbye to someone I really didn't want to say goodbye to.

Good but strange

It is a bit of a strange quote. It takes thinking to get it.
